Terry Dean Carmean, born on July 18, 1943, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, in Godfrey, Illinois. He was 82 years old.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents Russell Carmean and Florence Dean, as well as his two sisters, Barbara Lebro and Louise Gill, and his eldest daughter Monique Seago and sons-in-laws Joseph Seago and Jeff Tuetken. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Carmean of Godfrey; his daughter, Reba (Tom) Conte of San Diego, CA; his son, Tony (Cortne) Carmean of Carlsbad, CA; and his four cherished grandchildren, Adam and Alyssa Tuetken, and Jacob and Lauren Carmean.
Terry’s professional journey began at the age of 18 when he joined McDonnell Douglas right out of high school. Over the course of a remarkable five-decade career, he rose through the ranks while attending Southern Illinois University at the same time, ultimately achieving a master’s degree in engineering and retired as a Senior Industrial Engineer from Boeing. Those who worked with him remember him for his tireless work ethic and commitment to excellence.
A man of many talents and passions, Terry was deeply involved with the Native American community throughout the country and earned widespread respect as a gifted Native American artist and craftsman. His artistry left an indelible mark on those who admired his work.
Terry also cherished time spent with his family and took great pride in supporting his children’s activities. He dedicated many years to coaching soccer and softball and exposing his children to Native American culture along the way. His efforts built a strong foundation and outlook on life and created lasting memories that his children will be forever grateful for.
Terry’s legacy is one of love, dedication, a love of life and family, and creativity. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
Please join Terry’s family to celebrate his wonderful life. Visitation will be at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home (Elias Smith) in Godfrey, IL on Wednesday June 17th from 4pm to 7pm followed by a funeral on Thursday June 18th at 11am also at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, IL.
