Terri Flowers

East Alton |

Terri Lavonne Flowers, 67, passed away unexpectedly at 8:24 p.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at her home.

She was born in Jerseyville, Illinois on June 24, 1956, and was lovingly raised by her parents, Raymond S. and Peggy J. (Hildred) Brown. She grew up in Jersey County, where she graduated with the Class of 1974 from Jersey Community High School.

She was formerly married to Dennis Flowers, and together they were the proud parents of two daughters, Amy and Rebecca.

She dedicated her life serving others in the healthcare field. She began her career as a CNA at Alton Mental Health and went on to work for many years at Jerseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. In 2001, she relocated to West Virginia, where she worked as a Podiatry Technician at the Martinsburg VA Medical Center. It was there that she found her true calling in the healthcare field. During her 20 years with the VA, she received many service awards, was a dedicated and faithful advocate for Veterans and their families and provided a safe and comfortable space for her patients. The Christmas season was one of her absolute favorites, and she made an effort to decorate the office space to brighten the days of her patients.

Following her retirement in 2022, she settled back in East Alton, and was looking forward to the opportunity to spend more time with her family, most especially her granddaughters, who she loved dearly and proudly boasted of their accomplishes at every opportunity.

Surviving are two daughters and sons in-law, Amy and Jason Davis and Rebecca and Ryan Grimmett, all of East Alton; three granddaughters, Taylor Harding, Mal Cornwell and Ruby Cornwell; two brothers and a sister in-law, Donald Brown of Jerseyville and Randy Crisswell and Jeanette Doyle of Cape Coral, Florida; a brother in-law, Bob Woolsey of Jerseyville; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Peggy Brown; a brother, Ronald Charles “Butch” Crisswell Jr.; as well as three sisters and their spouses, Rhonda and Chen Nguyen, Kathy and Tony Schafer and Deborah Woolsey.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, January 22, 2024 at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday.

Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
