Terence L. Fischer, 66, left his earthly home and entered his eternal home into the loving arms of Jesus, Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
He was born on January 2, 1947 in Granite City, IL, the son of Harry Lloyd and Norma (West) Fischer.
He married Mary “Pat” Banks on March 15, 1969 in Collinsville, IL. She survives.
Terence served his country in the U.S. Navy as an aviation electrician mate, working on helicopters, during the Vietnam War. He attended Rankin Technical School and was a telecommunication engineer for MCI retiring in 2004. He attended Emmanuel Free Methodist Church. He was a member of the Riverbend 9-12 Club. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed doing yard work, a wonderful handyman and loved his annual fishing trips to Lake Wappapello. Terence was a man of faith and would help anyone in need.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Aaron Fischer of Collinsville and a daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Jay Viviano of Bunker Hill; four granddaughters, Christina Fischer, Annabel Gage, Serafina and Sophia Viviano; a sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Tim Alexander of Aurora, CO and two nieces, Lindsey and her husband, Doug Scott and Emily Alexander.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Norman Fischer who was killed in action in Vietnam.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 pm Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be at 10 am on Monday, August 19, 2013 at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Scandrett officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Edwardsville with military rites conducted by the Collinsville American Legion Post 365
