Susan Hook

Susan Lynn Hook, nee Ebner, 61, of Vandalia, IL, passed away on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, IL. She was born on September 16, 1965, in Belleville, IL.

Susan was known for her strong will, independence, and caring heart. Her strength and determination remained evident throughout her battle with breast cancer. She loved spending time with family and friends and going to car races. Susan also had a special place in her heart for animals, and her love for them was reflected in her support of Second Chance Animal Rescue. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her father, J. Thomas “Tom” Ebner.

Susan is survived by her two daughters, Ashley (Shane) Dye and Emily White (fiancé, Andrew Metzger); her mother, Patricia Ebner, nee Doerr; and her brother, Scott (Maria) Ebner.

Burial will be at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
