Steven R. Hoke, 55, passed away while in the presence of his loved ones, at 2:55 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born January 20, 1956 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Randle and Jean (Steffen) Hoke. He retired as an electrician from Boeing in 2008 after 30 years of service. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. On October 22, 1977 in Alton, he married Leigh Slocumb. She survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Wendi Hoke of Wood River, Stephanie Hoke of Godfrey, and Brittney Hoke and her fiancé, Grant Lamsargis of Alexander, IL, one granddaughter, Mya Diaz, three brothers, Ronald Hoke of Godfrey, Michael Hoke and his wife Allyn of Wildwood, MO, and Daniel Hoke and his wife Becky of Brighton, and two sisters, Karen Smouse and her husband Paul of Godfrey, and Jennifer Mueller and her husband Raymond of Godfrey. He was preceded in death by his father, Randle Hoke, his mother, Jean (Steffen) Snyder, and his step-father, William “Bern” Snyder. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.
