Steven Leslie Griggs, 61, died at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Elmwood Nursing & Rehab Center in Maryville, IL. Born January 23, 1955 in Alton, he was the son of Dorothy Evadine (Coleman) Griggs Masterson of Bethalto and the late William Leslie Griggs. He married the former Norma Poe on April 21, 2001. She preceded him in death on March 11, 2007. Along with his mother he is survived by five sisters, Dorothy Shepard, Penny Heaton, Roxanne Bond, Traci Whitehead, and Autumn Swarringin, six brothers, Billy Griggs, Gregory Griggs, Ricky Griggs, James Griggs, Sterling Gould, and Kevin Gould as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his father and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Ragusa and Rebecca Griggs and a brother, Jerry Griggs. Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2016 at the Alton National Cemetery. Reverend Steve Rice will officiate. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
