Steven Bishop, 59, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2013, while hiking near the West Alton Observatory. Steve was born on October 5, 1954, in Alton, Illinois the son of Norma (White) Bishop of Collinsville, his step mother: Jo Ann Bishop of East Alton, and the late Lloyd Bishop.
In addition to his mother and step - mother, Steve is survived by one son: Thomas Bishop of Seoul, Korea, one daughter and son in law: Jennifer and Bradley Tiemann of De Luz, California, two grandchildren: Julia and Miles Thiemann of De Luz, California, two brothers and a sister in law: Randy and Cheryl Bishop of Wood River, Dale Bishop of Collinsville, one sister and brother in law: Kim and Gary Astrauskas of Collinsville.
Steve worked for Wetterau Bakery for 29 years, until his retirement in 2005. Since his retirement, he spent a lot of time taking walks, enjoying nature, and spoiling his grandchildren. Steve also had a unique talent for being outgoing and friendly to everyone he encountered; he never met a stranger. He will be remembered for his kind heart and the many special times shared with family and friends.

In celebration of his life, a memorial gathering will be held from 4pm to 7pm on Monday, November 18, 2013 at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Memorial services will be private. Private inurnment will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
