Stella Eileen Nagel, 102, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Willow Rose Care Center in Jerseyville.
Born May 24, 1921 in Virden, she was the daughter of Joe and Anna (Velus) Strawkas, who were Lithuanian immigrants.
After completing high school, she work at the Springfield Armory as a munitions inspector before marrying and moving to Roxana.
She mas married November 10, 1946 in Virden to Ernest Frederick Nagel. He died July 27, 2013.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Stella was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers, George, Anthony, Charles, Ray and Walter Strawkas; and six sisters, Helen Tomec, Mary Kuntz, Rose Gostilov, Hazel Klaves, Agnes Adcock, and Anna Mrazek.
Graveside service and burial will be at 11 am, Friday, December 22 in Virden Cemetery in Virden, IL.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of one's choice.
