Stanley B. Pohlman, Jr, 90, of Bethalto passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019, at 5:30 pm in Rosewood Care Center in Alton, under the care of BJC Hospice.
He was born on March 26, 1928, in Brussels, IL, the son of Stanley Pohlman, Sr, and Mary (Fortschneider) Pohlman. He married Laraine R. Biscan on May 16, 1959 in Mt. Olive, IL.
Stan served in the United States Army. He was a pipefitter at Shell Oil Company for over 35 years before retirement in 1993. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto and Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree. He enjoyed working the BINGO stand, doing raffles and working food stands at Our Lady Queen of Peace. He loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Stan is survived by his wife; two children, Stephanie (Thomas) Quarnstrom of St. Peters, MO and Bill Pohlman of Brentwood, MO; two brothers, Frank (Dorothy) Pohlman of East Alton and Tom (Pennie) Pohlman of Brussels, IL; two grandsons, Ryan Quarnstrom and Nick Quarnstrom.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters, Esther Woods, Ida Haselhorst, Laverne Roth, Jeannine Haselhorst-Weaver, Amelia Springman and George Pohlman.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 am on Thursday, February, 7, 2019 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 am on Thursday, February 7, 2019, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto, with Father Tom Liebler officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
