Stacey Smith departed this life Wednesday, October 17, 2013, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.Stacey was born January 18, 1965, in Hollandale, Mississippi, Son of  the late Matthew and Ollie Smith, Sr.  He was raised in Alton, Illinois, where he attended Alton Sr. High School.  Stacey moved to Lawrence, Kansas in 1989.  He studied computer science at DeVry University and Johnson County Community College, in Overland Park Kansas.Stacey worked for Allied Signal in Hollandale, Mississippi.  He played a significant role in assisting engineers with product development, manufacturing processes, and issue resolution.Stacey did not marry; though, he was very committed to his parents, siblings, nephews, and nieces. He leaves to cherish fond memories: two brothers, Ledell Smith, Alton, IL; and Bruce Smith, Lawrence, Kansas; six sisters, Queen Slater, Alton, IL, Earleane Smith, Lake Wales, Florida, Brenda(Tony) Venzen, Lawrence, Kansas, Flossie Smith, Alton IL, Genary(Mark) Porter, Olathe, KS, and Sharon Smith, Kansas City, KS; a sister-in-law, Shirley Pearl Turner Smith of Alton; and a half brother, David Smith of California.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, four brothers, Matthew, Jr., Willie James, Shelby, and Stanley Smith; a sister, Shirley Ann Smith, a brother-in-law, Clarence Slater, Jr.;a half sister, Catherine Dillard; and a nephew, Allen Anthony Rice.Celebration of Life will convene Saturday, October 26 at 1:00 p.m. at Deliverance Temple Complex.  Pastor Gregory L. Harrison will officiate.  Family and friends will gather Monday, October 28 at Harrison Funeral Chapel for interment at Upper Alton Cemetery.  Guest signatures and condolences can be registered at http://www.harrisonfuneralchapel.com/
