Sondra Jones

Sondra Sue Jones, 88, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 9:24 a.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at her home.

She was born on April 4, 1938, in West Frankfort, Illinois, the daughter of the late Albert and Juanita (Morgan) Dossett.

Sondra was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Holmes “Tex” Jones, who passed away on February 10, 2000. Together they shared many wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories. They especially enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Piedmont, Missouri, where they loved fishing, boating, and making memories on Clearwater Lake.

A devoted woman of faith, Sondra was a longtime member of Unity Baptist Church in Granite City. She cherished her church family and found great joy in serving her Lord. She enjoyed participating in Sunday School, helping with the children's ministry, and sharing her kindness and faith with those around her.

Sondra dedicated more than 30 years of service to KMOV Channel 4 in St. Louis, where she worked in program and commercial scheduling while taking on many other responsibilities throughout her distinguished career. Her strong work ethic, dependability, and dedication earned the respect and friendship of many colleagues over the years.

She is survived by her cousins, Dennis, Beverly, and Marilyn; her special friends, Wanda, Debbie, and Mike; and many other friends whose lives were enriched by her kindness, faith, and friendship.

In celebration of her life, visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Jarad Corzine officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Denning Cemetery in West Frankfort, Illinois, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.
