Shirley Thompson

Shirley Ann Thompson, 90, died at 9:55 a.m. on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at her residence.

She was born August 24, 1935 in Harrisburg, IL, the daughter of the late Steve and Blanche (McGuire) Zimmer. Shirley did clerical work for several years and was a former member of the Alton Wood River Zonta Club. She was married to Leo Thompson, and he preceded her in death on December 27, 1991.

Surviving are one son, Larry Cunningham (Beth Fullington) of Chesterfield, IL, two grandsons, Steven Cunningham (Julie) of Medora, Matthew Cunningham (Katie) of Chesterfield and three great grandchildren, Aubree Cunningham, Lee Cunningham, Heidi Cunningham and a fourth great grandchild any day.

Shirley is also survived by her long-time companion, Harold Green.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
