Shirley Helen (Haselhorst) Reisinger, 90, of Collinsville and formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 2:40 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. She and her husband have joined in Heaven holding one another’s hand.
She was born December 7, 1933, in St. Louis, Missouri, a daughter of the late Peter and Marie (Guelker) Haselhorst.
She married the love of her life, Herbert Ulysses Reisinger on December 27, 1952, at the Epiphany Church in St. Louis and he passed away on February 23, 2024.
Shirley was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who was named after the beloved Shirley Temple. She had a love for music, played the piano beautifully by ear and enjoyed listening to her favorite artist, Andy Williams. She and her brother loved playing the accordion and entertaining at many family gatherings. She lived for a great cup of coffee and always enjoyed sharing a cup and conversation with her Aunt Gloria, dad or anyone she could find. She was a faithful member of Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville and a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City. She and her husband enjoyed working with the DeColores Ministries and was a founder of the United Congregation of Metro East. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Hwai Yang of Frontenac, Missouri and Judy and Gerald Jackson of Troy, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin Deason, Kimberly Terry, Kelly and Randy Christy, Leonard and Nan Fuchs, Jason Fuchs, Kristen and Blake Witzman, Rob Kaiser, Dr. Cameron and Christie Yang, Madison Yang, Gerald and Cindy Jackson Jr., Dr. Ryan and Valerie Jackson, Joseph Jackson and Courtney Jackson; many great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her beloved and devoted husband that held her hand through 72 years of marriage and her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Debra Hinds and Geri Dillard and three siblings, Lester Haselhorst, Virginia Mosblech and Ray Haselhorst.
In celebration of their life, visitation for Mr. & Mrs. Reisinger will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. A Funeral Mass will be held at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 200 N. Lange Street in Maryville on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 12:30 p.m. with Father Rob Johnson as celebrant.
She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Calvary Catholic Church in Edwardsville.
