Shirley Mae Brantley

Shirley Mae Brantley, 85, formerly of East Alton, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born Aug. 11, 1939 in rural Herod, Hardin County, IL, she was a daughter of Harold and Vida (Burton) Duncan.

Shirley worked as a cook and manager in the East Alton School District. She loved spending precious time with her great grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and watching romance, mystery, and true crime TV shows and movies. She was a member of East Alton Church of Christ.

Survivors include her son, Jeffrey Deucker and her daughter, Terri Deucker, both of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Danielle Weaver, Brianna Greer, and Autumn Hileman, all of Indianapolis; her great grandchildren, Leigh Weaver of Indianapolis, Kaecee Graham of Cottage Hills, Aurora Graham of Indianapolis, Zoe Brothers of Los Angeles, CA, and Lotti Graham of Indianapolis; and her sister, Glenda (Ron) Spann of Paducah, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Brantley; and her brother, Delbert Duncan.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 at Paynic Home for Funerals, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
