Shirley Gall

Shirley Lee Gall, age 72 of Okawville, IL, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Memorial Hospital West in Belleville, IL.

She was born on Saturday, May 23, 1953, in Highland, IL, the daughter of Elmer and Marjorie (nee Westerheide) Klenke.

On Friday, May 19, 1972, she married Roger James Gall at St. Paul Catholic Church, Highland, IL, who survives.

She was a member of Salem United Church of Christ. She was an active supporter of Exhale, where she also was called Gram.

Shirley was born in Highland, Illinois. She graduated Highland High School in 1971. She worked as a grain broker for her family farm and KF Grain Elevator. Then she went on to St. Louis to do the same job. Shirley completed cosmetology school in O'Fallon in 2002. She then opened up a shop in her home, retiring in 2017.

Shirley enjoyed going south to Gulf Shores, Alabama during the winter months. Camping with the kids and grandkids was a favorite past time. She enjoyed playing "Hand & Foot". As an active quilter, she made many family and baby quilts, and over 50 quilts at church and Hitz Home. Shirley had a love of baking, cooking and canning, as well as making homemade ice cream and gardening. One of her favorite things was helping with preparing food for Turkeyfest and the haunted house.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Roger James Gall; children, Richelle J. (Paul) Braundmeier, Dustin C. (S.O.-Stacie Hogg) Gall and Shannon (Shawn) Hogg; grandchildren - Rebecca J. (Jeremy) Resillez, Jordan N. (S.O.-Josh Jackowski) Braundmeier, Kara M. (Ozzy) Parent, Lia F. (S.O.-Brandt Mansholt) Braundmeier, Syler A. (S.O.-Carlie Mettler) Hogg, Shayden N. (S.O.-Joey Von Bokel) Hogg and Sayde L. Hogg; great grandchildren - Audree N. Butcher, Levi S. Butcher, Vayda J. Resillez and Valen J. Resillez; siblings, Anita Reising, Sharon (Mark) Thole, Betty (Phil) Imboden, Bonnie (Dan) Archer, Vickie (Greg) Johnson, Ruthann (Chuck) Zwolle, Darrell (Tina) Klenke and Myrna (Mark) Davis; brothers-in-law, David Gall, Dale (Judy) Gall, Robert (Brenda) Gall and Randy (Ellen) Gall; sister-in-law - Jan (Phil) Steffen and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Henry Klenke (died 1/25/2009) and Marjorie Irma (nee Westerheide) Klenke (died 11/23/2010); siblings, Delbert Klenke, Rosemarie King, Gerry (Lori) Klenke, Keith Klenke; parents-in-law, Delmar & Norine Gall and sister-in-law, Christine Gall.

Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, IL.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Salem United Church of Christ in Alhambra, IL, with Pastor Dan Wagner, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Salem Exhale Youth Group Salem UCC.
