Shirley Faye Ray, age 71, of Godfrey, passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born November 14, 1946, the daughter of Cleveland and Ethel (Woolsey) Wilkinson. She married Gary Lee Ray on November 20, 1964 in Wood River. He survives.
Shirley enjoyed sitting on the deck with her husband, watching the birds and butterflies. They enjoyed long morning drives with the final destination, breakfast. One of Shirley's greatest joys in life was time spent with her dearest friends, also known as the "Bunco Babes" who were with her to the very end.
She is survived by her husband Gary Lee Ray of Godfrey, IL; two sons, Steven Ray of Dow, IL and Donald Ray (Kelli) of Godfrey, IL; a grandson, Brian Michael Ray of Jersey County, IL; two sisters-in-law, Kathryn VanWinkle (Wayne) of Bethalto, IL and Tina Zumwalt (Keith) of Woodriver, IL; and three brothers-in-law; Chris Ray (MelAnn) of Godfrey, IL, Rick Ray of Fosterburg, IL, and Joe Ray (Judy) of Bunker Hill, IL; and many loving nieces and nephews whom she adored.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ira Cole Wilkinson; a sister-in-law, Lori Vinyard; and a brother-in-law, Tim Ray.
A Visitation will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018 from 10:00 am until time of services at 12:00 pm at the Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association or The American Heart Association.
