Shirley Elaine Yates, 85, passed away 1:10 p.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Christian Hospital Northeast.
Born in Alton on June 12, 1929, she was the daughter of Aura and Beatrice (Pigg) Taylor.
She is survived by two sons, Scot (Jill) Yates of Grafton, Bret (Sharon) Yates of Cottage Hills; Colleen (Robert) Stanton of Godfrey; eight grandchildren, Jacob (Elizabeth) Wells, Felicia (Keith) Boaz, Nicholas Yates, Kyle Yates, Keith Yates, Shelly Yates, Erica (Nathan) Ater, Kara Figge; five great grandchildren, Jonathan and Josephine Wells, Keegan Yates, Ethan and Dagan Hubbs; a brother Trot Taylor; and a sister, Janet Eccopi.
A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10 a.m until time of service at 11 a.m. Monday at Concordia Lutheran Church in Cottage Hills. Pastor Matthew Gehrke will officiate.
Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran Church where she had been a long time active member.
