After a long health battle, Shirley Carroll of Bunker Hill passed away quietly at home on 10/30/26 at the age 81.
She was raised in the Hoyleton Children’s Home until adopted by Thelma (2012) & Frederick (1979) Schallenberg. She was married to her husband James Carroll (1995) for 30 years.
She is survived by sons Randy Carroll (Earleen), Joseph Carroll (Sara), grandchildren Anissa Liley (Ryan) & Amanda Carroll, great grandchildren Audrey Able & Ellie Mae Liley and her sister Kay Grotefendt and numerous nieces & nephews.
She worked for the State of Illinois for 39 years. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo and spending time with friends and family.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to go to Hoyleton Children’s Home or St. Jude’s in her name.
