Shirley A. Carter, 77, passed away 9:40 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2017 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born on December 30, 1939 in East Alton, she was the daughter of Eugene and Mary (Basham) Frazier.
She had worked many years in the retail grocery industry, retiring as a store manager for Shop and Save.
On January 6, 1962 in East Alton, she married Sharrel Carter. He survives.
Surviving also are two sons, Dennis (Julie) Carter of East Alton, Brad Carter of Albany, OR; four grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Allen of Hartford.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday. Pastor Tom Hufty will officiate.
Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
