Sherry Lou McClure, 85, entered Heaven's gates at 2:03 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Alton Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. 

She was born November 15, 1930 in Edwardsville, the youngest child of Orcen "Pappy" and Wilhemina "Minnie" (Schlimmer) Hall.

A fun-loving mother and homemaker, Sherry enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends.  She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, "Jeopardy", "Wheel of Fortune" and the "Game Show Network".  However, her favorite past time was caring for and spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She had an unwavering faith in God and was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River.  She was very involved in church activities and the Ladies Aide-Hannah Circle.

Due to her declining health, her loving children and Laurie Watts help car for her the last four years of her life.

She married Gerald L. McClure on October 21, 1950 in Wood River.  They were happily married for 53 years, until his untimely death in 2003.

Sherry is survived by her daughters, Jeri L. McClure of Hartford, Jan L. (Jim) Anderson of League City, TX; sons, Mark K. (Stephanie) McClure of Wood River, Michael K. McClure (Verna Melvin) of Carrollton, MO; and Jim Anderson as she loved as her son; seven grandchildren, Jason Anderson, Jana Anderson Williams, Jamie Anderson Brownson, Kristina McClure, Kelli McClure, Ryan McClure, Jamie McCollum; 11 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Donald V. McClure; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death were her parents; husband; three sisters, Virginia Seehausen, Muriel Sparks, Ethel "Pet" Bode; and a brother, Elton Hall.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until time of service at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1327 Vaughn Rd, Wood River.  Pastor Martin Schultz will officiate.

Burial will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in White Hall Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church.
