Sherril Bone

Sherril J. Bone, age 80, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 5, 2026, at Greenville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Donnell–Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville. Interment will follow in McKendree Chapel Cemetery, Keyesport. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time Tuesday at Donnell–Wiegand Funeral Home. In lieu of plants and flowers, please make memorials to Bond County Hospice or Bond County Humane Society.

Sherril was born November 20, 1945, in Keyesport, Illinois. Daughter to Henry Walker Stone and Zelma I. Duncan Stone Isaak. She grew up in Bond County, attended the local schools and graduated from Carlyle High School.

Sherril married Robert Donald Young on July 21, 1964. Robert passed away in a car accident on April 13, 1967. Sherril and Bobby Lee Bone were united in marriage on February 5, 1971, and had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before his passing on July 31, 2021.

Sherril worked for over 25 years at Fair Oaks Nursing Home and was head of the housekeeping department when she retired. For those who knew Sherril well, her collection of Betty Boop continued to grow. She also collected holiday Barbies and Coca-Cola memorabilia. Sherril loved to bake and share with others.

She is survived by her son Robert H. Young and wife Sylvia, daughter Sherri Young Aguins and husband Jerry, and son Anthony Bone. Her wonderful grandchildren: Shelby Bone, Jackson Bone, Lexi Bone, Ashley Young, Austin Young, Allison Young, Andrew Aguins, and Kaitlin Aguins. Great-grandmother to Colton, Cainen, Saylor, and Sophia. Sherril is also survived by her brother Ralph Stone Sr. and wife Nettie.
