Sherian J. (Shemwell) Russell, 77, of Wood River, IL, passed away at 9:46 a.m. Sun. June 7, 2026 at her home while under hospice care.
She was born June 19, 1948 in Paris, TN to the late Charles and Bobbie Jean (Bailey) Shemwell.
Sherian had been a beautician for many years and later became a healthcare billing manager. “Sherry” loved to dance. In her teenage years, she won several local dance contests and was known as a fantastic dancer in all the local communities. She loved her family and found the greatest joy in the simples things, such as the little things children would say. She was known as “Jojo” to all her nieces and nephews who loved being around her. She never asked for anything but had a heart as big as Texas!
Survivors include a daughter, Sherri Lee (Russell) Trittschuh of Wood River; 4 grandchildren, Kenneth (Crystal nee: Hale) Jordan, Kayla Russell, Norman Russell III, and Noah Russell; 3 great-grandchildren, Danial Jordan, Bosco Jordan, and Daxton Derousse; 2 sisters, Sheila (Shemwell) Rush of Springboro, OH, and Cynthia (Shemwell) Kleuskens of Middletown, OH, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Norman Lee Russell Jr. and 2 brothers, Charles Duane Shemwell and Daniel Bailey Shemwell.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
