It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Shellie Rebecca Cougill, a cherished mother, wife, and friend, who departed this life on Monday, August 17, 2026. Born on Friday, January 26, 1973, in Alton, IL, Shellie was a beacon of warmth, kindness, and impactful presence throughout her vibrant 53 years.

A longtime resident of Brighton, IL, Shellie was known for her unwavering commitment and dedication as an Accountant with Apex Global, where she was admired for her keen intellect and meticulous work ethic. Her colleagues will remember her not only for her professional acumen but also for her infectious laugh and compassionate heart.

Shellie was preceded in death by her beloved Father, G. "Ed" Anders and her Mother, Pat Anders, whose nurturing spirit and boundless love deeply influenced Shellie's own life path. She carried the memories of her parents with her, infusing every moment with love and devotion.

She is survived by her Husband; Richard "Rick" S. Naugle of Brighton, Son; Mason Cougill of Brighton, Sister and Brother in law; Lisa & Kenny Jones of Delhi and Stepmother; Mary Anders of Godfrey, Father and Mother-in-law; Vernon & Ruth Ann Naugle of Medora.

Shellie’s caring nature extended beyond her family and career; she was passionate about giving back to the community. In memory of Shellie, donations are encouraged to the American Heart Association, a cause she ardently supported.

Visitation to celebrate Shellie’s life will held from 10:00 am until noon on Tuesday, August 25 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Family, Burial will immediately follow at Valhalla Memorial Gardens in Godfrey, Illinois. Pastor Sonny Renken will be officiant. Friends, and all who were touched by Shellie's grace and goodness are invited to attend and share in remembrance.

Shellie leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. Her strength and caring spirit will forever be remembered by her family, colleagues, and countless friends. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
