Sharon Lee Smith, age 84, of Belleville, IL., born August 29, 1939, in Maryville, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at her residence.
Sharon was a retired employee at the Armstrong & Teasdale law firm in St. Louis where she worked in the Information Technology Department. She was a graduate of Collinsville High School class of 1957 and a member of the high school band, a Girl Scout leader, and a member of the former St. John Lutheran Church in Maryville. She enjoyed doing volunteer work, gardening, crafting, animals, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ruth (nee Neubauer) Preloger.
She is survived by a son, Jeff Smith of Belleville, IL; a daughter, Dawn (Jim) Hood of Collinsville, IL; four grandchildren: Jamie, Grant, Tyler, and Alex; five great-grandchildren: Corey, Aubrey, Madison, Abigail, and Olivia; and a sister, Gloria Sleeter of Collinsville, IL.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.
Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation and will begin at 11:30 a.m., with Pastor David Seaton officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville, IL.
