Sharon K. Madrey, 73, of Cottage Hills, passed away on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at 2:06 am, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born on August 18, 1945, in Alton, the daughter of James W. and Mary E. (Widick) Brewster. Sharon married Sam Madrey on November 23, 1963, in Cottage Hills.
Sharon enjoyed going on vacation to Indiana with her family. She loved all the kids at Forest Homes Grade School, and singing at the local nursing homes with the kids. She loved Elvis and to watch softball, basketball and volleyball with all her kids.
She is survived by her children, Sam (Jeanne) Madrey of Alton, Scott Madrey of Cottage Hills, Shara (Brian) Helm of Holiday Shores, Sean Madrey of Cottage Hills, and Serena (Bill) Jeffers of East Alton; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Faye (John) Govero of Cottage Hills; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to her parents, Sharon is preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers, Lucille Hogle, Richard Brewster, Charles Brewster, Velda Brewster Junior Brewster and Robert Brewster.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm on Monday, December 10, 2018, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, where funeral services will be at 11 am on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, with Pastor Tony Jackson officiating.
Burial will follow at Bethalto United Methodist Cemetery in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital and/or The American Diabetes Association.
