Sharon L. Devening, 87, passed away at 5:32 p.m., Monday, October 19, 2026, at Jerseyville Manor.
She was born on October 1, 1939, in Jerseyville, Illinois, the daughter of the late Delbert and Kathleen (Ayres) Lane.
She married Robert E. “Stub” Devening on April 4, 1959, and together they were the parents of four children. They shared nearly 46 years of marriage before his passing on March 3, 2005.
Sharon worked as a beautician at Hair Care Alley, where she enjoyed the friendships and conversations that came with her work.
She found happiness in life's simple pleasures, whether it was an afternoon playing bingo, trying her luck at the slot machines, enjoying lunch with friends, or taking a drive in her convertible. Above all, she treasured her family and held a special place in her heart for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter; a daughter-in-law; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Kathy and Charles Jones of Fort Worth, Texas, and Patsy McNear of Jerseyville; as well as a brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Jill Lane of Godfrey.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Randy; a brother, Roger Lane; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ruth and Ned Devening.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m., Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.
Burial will follow at Fieldon Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to her great-grandchildren's college fund, in care of Crawford Funeral Home.
