Sharon Blanquart

Sharon M. Blanquart, nee Schaefer, 78, of Swansea, IL, born August 29, 1947, in Belleville, IL, died Sunday, December 28, 2025, at her residence.

Mrs. Blanquart retired from AT&T. She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. While it did not define her, for the last 17 years, Sharon lived with the impact of Parkinsons disease and later on the tell-tale signs of dementia. In spite of that, she and Chuck lived their shared lives to the fullest, as best they could, spending time together, simply enjoying each other's company, going for long Sunday afternoon rides after the morning trip to IGA, which included lots of snacks for the week, going out to eat as often as they could so she could enjoy her chicken fingers or a good cheeseburger, and certainly an ice cream any chance she could get!

Sharon loved her family. While we are deeply saddened to say goodbye, we are also grateful that she is now free. Free to walk without falling and free to watch over her family now, just as they did for her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marcus and Irene, nee Rodenmeyer, Schaefer; two brothers, Roger Schaefer and David Schaefer; and a brother-in-law, Bob Blanquart.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles “Chuck” F. Blanquart, whom she married on April 8, 1967; two sons, Gregory J. (Nicole) Blanquart and Bradley J. (Christine) Blanquart; two grandsons, Chase and Carter; four sisters-in-law, Patricia Schaefer, Mary Strotheide, Jeannie (Gerald) Harr, and Sandy Blanquart; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to Heartland Hospice and to Mary PopIns Home Health Care, and her special caregivers, Mary Ann Wilson, Alix, Quest, and Jasmine. These ladies were with Sharon daily for many years. Their caring and dedication, along with many great memories, will never be forgotten. We could not have gotten through this without you.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Parkinsons Foundation, St. Luke Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, or Heartland Hospice. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
