Seth Grisson

Seth Ian Grisson, age 35, was released from this world at 2:56 AM, March 23, 2018.A 2000 graduate of Alton high School, Seth was a very talented self-taught drummer. To learn, he had headphones and a stack of his Mom’s Genesis, Eagles, and Fleetwood Mac CD’s. In his teens, he became engrossed in the Punk scene.He was a drummer for bands around the Alton and St. Louis area including (the original) Politikill and Hearts of Darkness. Much like his mother, Seth was a natural artist. He would doodle on any piece of paper within his reach and always decorated letters and envelopes when writing friends and family.Along with his musical and artistic talents, he was also an “evil genius” in the kitchen, as long as it wasn’t something simple like eggs, which he always burned.Seth is survived by his parents, Mechelle L. (nee Smith) Grissom and Roger A. (Barbara) Grissom; a sister, Jacki (James) Ewin; a brother, Kane Grissom-Lyerla; his nieces, Mia “Meetar” Grissom and Charlotte Ewin; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Calvin C. and Wanda M (nee Rushing) Smith; Robert R. and Blanche O Grissom; and an uncle, Mitchell L. Smith.Seth was loved by all and will be greatly missed.A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 30, 2018, at 1:00 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.A wake will be held at his Mother’s house immediately following the service.Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.Online condolences may be made at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
