Scott Wayne Ward, 54, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.  He was born March 16, 1964 in Granite City.  He had worked 15 years as a laborer at Olin Brass in East Alton.  He loved the outdoors and enjoyed his days of hunting, fishing and camping.  Scott gave his heart to Jesus as a young boy at Suburban Baptist Church and was a believer in Jesus. 

He cherished his grandchildren and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.  He married the love of his life, Michelle L. (Kientzle) Ward on March 22, 1996 in Edwardsville and she survives.  In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his mother and stepfather, Beth and Phil (Wilburn) Kindle of Granite City; father and stepmother, Ronald and Lynn Ward of Marion; children and spouses, Melanie and Ryan Slaton of Trenton, Elizabeth and David Grant of Granite City, Jason and Sara Wimberly of Virginia and Michelle Robinson of Virginia; grandchildren, Emily May, Evan, Isabel, Jason Jr., Summer and Wilder; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Phuong Ward of Vietnam; sister and brother-in-law, Amanda and Anthony Auger of St. Louis; step-sisters and spouses, Debra and Kip Schoenborn of Colorado, Connie Kindle of Collinsville and Cindy and Steve Zacha of Marion; step-brother and spouse, David and Tamara Burch of Georgia; special cousins, Rick Wilburn, Greg Wilburn, Rayburn Killion, Chuck Killion, Eric Killion, David Killion, Karen Johnson and Denise Liebel; and other special cousins; nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents and an uncle, Carl Wayne Ward.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will continue at the funeral home on Saturday, August 18, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Jarad Corzine officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.  Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Research Fund at Washington University Division of Oncology, 660 South Euclid Avenue, St. Louis, MO  63110 or to the Ward Family and may be accepted at the funeral home.  www.irwinchapel.com
