Saundra Kaye Rice, 79, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2024 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 16, 1944 in Godfrey, she was a daughter of Clyde C. and Lillian B. (Ward) Kirgan.
After graduation from high school, Sandy won a singing scholarship. She retired from Alton Mental Health Center in 2003 after 35 years of service, ending her career in the Business Office. She loved working with numbers. Sandy also loved cats and Rottweilers. One of her favorite things to do was drive her bright yellow Monte Carlo.
Survivors include her grandson and his wife, Devin and Kassandra Grant of East Alton; her great grandchildren, Mila and Konnor; and her sister, Rebecca Kirgan of Jacksonville, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Sharon Richey; two brothers, Michael Kirgan and Malcomb Kirgan; and her husband and the love of her life, Jerry D. Rice, who passed away May 12, 1986.
No services are scheduled, and she will be laid to rest next to Jerry at Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.
