Sandra Hand Sandra Kay "Sandy" Hand, 67, died unexpectedly at 9:04 a.m., Friday, September 23, 2011 at Jersey Community Hospital.She was born in Jerseyville on Feb. 11, 1944, one of three children born to the late Herschel L. & Mary Florence (Foster) Russell.Sandy graduated in 1962 from Jersey Community High School, and a year later married Jack L. Hand.  The two married on June 15, 1963 at the home of her parents in Jerseyville, and together they shared 43 years together before his death on July 15, 2006.She was employed in numerous businesses in Jerseyville, namely Embley & Son, Sinclair Grocery, Fran & Marilyns and served in the Jersey County Fair Office for 32 years.  She was also a Jersey County Election Judge, and looked forward to the "Monthly Birthday Lunches".During their married life Sandy & Jack were very active and enjoyed participating in numerous bowling and softball leagues.  She was also a "cheerleader" for her family, and rarely missed any sporting event that her children or grandchildren were participating in.Surviving are a daughter, Cindy Tefteller of Godfrey; a son & daughter in law, Bruce & Nancy Hand of Jerseyville; three grandchildren, J.T. Tefteller, a freshman at Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo., Allyson Hand and Anna Hand both of Jerseyville; a great granddaughter, McKenzi; a brother & sister in law, Jim & Mary Jane Russell of Jersey ville; a brother in law & sister in law, Tom & Linda Hand of Godfrey; a sister in law, Phyllis Bechtold of Godfrey; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Shirley J. Armstrong; a nephew, Russell Armstrong; and a brother in law, James Hand.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday.  Rev. Barbara Alley will officiate.Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the James R. Fosha Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
