Born on January 14, 1942, in Granite City, Sandy was the daughter of the late Keith and Ruby (Estler) Hart. On September 17, 1960, she married the love of her life, Lynn D. Cook, at Central Christian Church in Granite City. They shared a beautiful life together until his passing on January 16, 2022.

Sandy was known for her warm heart and generous spirit. An exceptional cook, she loved preparing meals and sharing them with others. She enjoyed shopping, picnics at Carlyle Lake, and traveling the world with her husband. Above all, she cherished time with her family and never missed a single sporting event for her grandchildren. Family was the center of her life, and she will be remembered for the love she poured into every moment she shared with them.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Tracy French of Troy; her son, Douglas Cook of Maplewood, Missouri; four grandchildren, Adam Gillespie, Alec Gillespie, Nicholas (Alyssa) Gillespie, and Ashley Banks; and two great-granddaughters, Faith Gillespie and Bella Banks. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family, and many cherished friends.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Sandy was preceded in death by two sisters, Janet (Robert) Wilhite and Brenda Bewley.

In celebration of her life, and in accordance with her wishes, a private family graveside service will be held at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates.
