Sandra Sue Burgess, 73, of Brighton, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at OSF St. Anthony’s Heath Center in Alton.
She was born on May 8, 1952, in Wood River, the daughter of the late Elmo and Alberta (Hogle) Mayberry.
Sandra married Jimmie Burgess on June 18, 1971, in Hartford. He preceded her in death on February 14, 2017.
She retired from Hutchinsons Foundry in Alton. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Sandra is survived by two daughters, Jamie (Terry) Plogger of Greenfield and Diane Burgess of Brighton; one grandson Jimmie (Kelly) Naylor; one great grandson Easton Naylor; three sisters, Cathy Lievers, Rose Lievers, and Jennifer Price; three brothers, Don (Sandy) Mayberry, Grover Mayberry, and Jim (Tammy) Odem.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters Linda Delehanty and Donna Gillian.
Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.
Funeral will be held at 10 am on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton.
Burial will follow at Brighton Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to 5 A’s Animal Shelter in Alton.
