Samuel T. Smith, 66, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 11:24 a.m. Thurs. Aug. 16, 2018 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
He was born Dec. 1, 1951 in St. Louis, MO to the late Clifton and Juanita Smith.
On June 3, 1991, he and Mary J. Kelly were married in Las Vegas, NV. She survives in Granite City.
Mr. Smith was a union millwright with Local #1899 and retired from U.S. Steel after 41 years of service. He and his wife were members of AmVets Post #204 and Eagles Aerie #1126.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 sons: Brad and Brian Smith of Union, MO; 2 brothers: Bill Smith of Marine, IL and Rick (Kathy) Smith of Granite City; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a memorial service at the AmVets #204 at a later date.
