Samuel E. Ward Sr., died at 6:42 P.M. on Friday, March 31, 2017 at his home in rural Brighton.
He was born to the late Harry L. & Lucille (Gilliland) Ward on March 18, 1950 in Jacksonville, Illinois.
Sam married LaVonne "Bonnie" C. (Sparks) Ward on September 25, 1973 in Bethalto, Illinois.
She survives and lives in Brighton.
He was a car salesman and had past employment with local restaurants.
Besides his wife, survivors include 1 son; Samuel "Spanky" E. Ward Jr. of Brighton, 3 daughters; Michelle (Jeff) Hoffman of Rosco, Illinois, Karen Sue Ward of Alton, Callie Padilla of Mexico, numerous grandchildren, several great grandchildren, 2 sisters; Helen Johnson of Winnebago, IL., Mary (David) Gillam, S. Belouit, IL., several nieces & nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother; Harry J. Dawdy, 2 sisters; Mary Lee Dawdy & Kathy Rucker
Memorial Visitation will be held at 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 4 at Targhetta & Wooldridge Funeral Home in Brighton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Brighton Fire Department or Unity Hospice
