Samuel Marmino

Wood River |

Samuel “Buck” Joseph Marmino, 91, of Wood River, IL, passed away at 5:50 a.m. Mon. Feb. 27, 2017 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, IL.

He was born Apr. 19, 1925 in Wood River, IL to the late Ross & Sarah (Guarino) Marmino.

Sam was a WWII U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1943 to 1951.  He had been a laborer with Local #338 as well as a school bus driver for Bethalto schools.  He was known as one who loved to tinker and make his own Italian sausage and wine. 

On May 25, 1971, he and Dorothy M. “Dottie” Carter were married in Alton.  She preceded him in death Jan. 24, 2010.

Survivors include a step-son: Larry (Barbara) Thomas of Live Oak, TX. a sister: Katie Eubanks of O’Fallon, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a sister: Mary Lekic and 4 brothers: Louie, Yanno, Angelo and Ross Marmino.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thurs. Mar. 2, 2017 at Paynic Home for Funerals.  A funeral procession will leave Paynic Home for Funerals promptly at 9:15 a.m. Fri. Mar. 3, 2017 for military graveside honors to be conducted at 10:00 a.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. 

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
