Ruth Elizabeth “Betsey” Berry, 94, passed away peacefully at 5:44 p.m. On Tuesday November 22, 2016 at Integrity Healthcare of Godfrey. She was born May 1, 1922 in Bridgeton, New Jersey the daughter of the late Charles Mason and Harriett (Leeper) Marsh. She was a member of 1st Presbyterian Church in Alton. On October 10, 1944 in Miami, FL she married Air Force officer and former attorney and magistrate judge of Madison County George Mills Berry. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1980. Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law; Mary Jane Chapman of Godfrey, IL, Dora Diane “Dee Dee” and Jerry Everitt of Thomasville, Georgia, and Charlotte Ruth and James Lynn of Godfrey, IL, and one granddaughter: Lisa Everitt of Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was preceded in death by one son-in-law; Craig Chapman. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 25, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton with Reverend Thomas Nadeline officiating.
