Ruth DeRossett

Ruth Ann DeRossett, age 88, of Wood River, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Alton Memorial Hospital.She was born on November 19, 1928, in Logan, OH, the daughter of Delbert and Helen (White) Norris.  She married John (Jack) Wolfe in 1949. Her daughter Beverly was born to this union. Ruth Ann remarried in January of 1982 to John DeRossett Jr., of Wright City Mo, where they resided until his death in 2016.Ruth Ann (as she wanted to be known) was a wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandma, great-grandma, and friend to many. She was a pianist (from the age of four), organist, choir director, lover of her church and church family, maker of beautiful braided rugs, crafter, Jeopardy wiz, and grammar corrector, just to name a few. She worked for many years at AO Smith as a Telecontrol Operator. Ruth Ann also worked with her husband, John DeRossett, operating DeRossett Tractor Sales and Service in Wright City until their retirement. She was a member of Community of Christ in Wood River, Illinois, where she was an organist and pianist for over 50 years.  She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Beverly (Wolfe) and Rick McKane of Alton; a granddaughter and her husband, Erica (Day) and Jason Swagler of Alton; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Sydney Swagler of Alton;  She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband John Wolfe; her second husband, John DeRossett Jr; and a sister and brother-in-law Janet Lou and Don Smith. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a light lunch and time for family visitation at Community of Christ Church, 2001 Vaughn Hill Rd, Wood River, Illinois.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Operation Blessing in Wood River, IL, or to Outreach International www.outreach-international.orgElias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.Online condolences and guestbook may be found at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
