Russell Baron

Russell "Blue" Baron, 71, passed away at 7:09pm on Friday, February 22, 2013, at St. Louis University Hospital.  He was born on April 12, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Helen (Baron) Fasol and stepfather Vitale Fasol.  He married the former Carolyn J. Evans on May 9, 1970, in Edwardsville and she survives.  Other survivors include one daughter and son in law: Kimberly and Joseph Meador of Elsah, Illinois, one son and daughter in law: Jeffrey and Kori Baron of Springfield, Illinois, three grandchildren: Joey, Alexandra, Adalyn, a special nephew: Jared Evans of Bethalto, and a sister in law: Roberta Evans of Bethalto.

He was formerly employed as a machinist in the brass mill at Olin Corp.  He was a member of Crosspoint Church in South Roxana for 41 years where he served as a deacon for nearly 30 years.  He enjoyed bowling and bird watching.  He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and an overall sports enthusiast.  He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, March 1, 2013, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River.  Visitation will continue from 9:30am until time of funeral services at 10:30am on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Crosspoint Church,

 4539 Wanda Road, South Roxana, Illinois.  Rev. Kenneth Clark will officiate.  Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana. 

Memorials are suggested to Crosspoint Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
