Rudy Scroggins, 82, peacefully left this world to meet with our Lord at 8:44 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was born November 20, 1941 in Madison County, Illinois, the son of the late John and Blanche (Reymer) Scroggins. \
Rudy graduated from Alton High School in 1959 and after high school he entered the Air Force and served from 1961 to 1965. On October 15, 1966 in Alton, he married Priscilla Swan and she survives.
Also surviving are his brother, Jim Scroggins, two daughters, Melinda Bowden (Gabriel) of Anna, TX, Elisabeth Martin (Jeff) of Alton, IL, two sons, Allan Scroggins (Karen) of Weatherford, TX, Roger Scroggins of Alton, IL, ten grandchildren, a great grandson, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Orville “Bucket” Scroggins, Joe Scroggins, his sister, Ruby Baum, and a grandson, Matthew.
Rudy loved sports and was an avid bowler and golfer. In 1958 and 1959 Rudy was bowler of the year at Alton High School and he also garnered three holes-in-one during his lifetime, not to be surpassed by his brothers, Bucket who had eight and Joe who had thirteen holes-in-one. Rudy was a life long member of Abundant Life Church (formally Edwards Street Assembly) and a tender hearted, giving man who loved God, his wife, and children fiercely and will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the Celebration of Life service at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 22, 2024 at Abundant Life Church.
