Ruby Boyd

Ruby Lindley Boyd, 97, died at 8:45 p.m. Monday, December 24, 2012 at Blu-Fountain Manor in Godfrey. Born December 3, 1915 in Graves County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of William E. and Liller B. (Russell) Johnson. She retired as a nurse aide at St. Joseph Hospital. In September 1978 she married Edgar T. “Bus” Boyd. He preceded her in death on August 18, 2002. Surviving are five children, Judy Doerr (Bob) of Elsah, Janice Shelton (Merle) of Hazelwood, MO, Jim Lindley (Patti) of Bethalto, Jackie Francis of Godfrey, and Dorothy Lewey (Gary) of Las Vegas, NV, 17 grandchildren, Steve, Tony, and Terry Wilson, Kim Chase (Herman), Bruce Lowe, Lisa Hays (Charles), Dawn Edelen, Blake Doerr, Brett Carnes (Diane), Karen Wegman (Howard), Dr. Jim Lindley (Kellie), Jay Lindley (Tricia), Warren Lindley (Kathy), Kristi Francis, Cara Francis, Bryan Pruetzel (Angie) and Taryn Parker (Tim), 28 great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Marvin, and George Johnson, and a sister, Carrie Hayes. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 at Gent Funeral Home. Private graveside services will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
