Roy J. Mossman, 94, passed away at 12:45 am on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Jerseyville Nursing & Rehabilitation.
He was born on November 4, 1929, in Golden Eagle, IL to the late Clarence and Edna (Kinder) Mossman Sr.
He married Mary Grace Dipiazzo on August 27, 1955, at St. Mary's Church. She preceded him in death on December 31, 2014.
Roy was employed as an operator at Shell Oil Co. He was a devoted member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church for 69 years. His passion for the outdoors, especially caring for his gardens, was evident. He and his wife enjoyed extensive travel throughout the United States in their custom-built RV. He and his wife also delighted in dancing the jitterbug. Roy cherished life's simple pleasures, including spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Roy is survived by his children, Michael Mossman of Columbia, MO, Mitchell (Becky) Mossman of Alton, IL, and Marilee (Kenny) Webb of Bethalto, IL; grandchildren, Jeremy (Chevon) Jeffreys, Ryan Jeffreys, Andrew (Britnee) Mossman, Alexander (Stacey) Mossman, Lindsey (Chris) Henson, and Jacob (Savanna) Webb; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and wife, Roy was preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Mossman Jr., and sister, Helen Hennings.
Per Roy's wishes the family held a private graveside service at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with Father Steve Janoski officiating.
Memorials are suggested to St. Ambrose Parish & School, St. Jude's Children's Research, and/or Shriner's Hospital for Children.
