Roy Lawson

Roy E. Lawson, 81, of Litchfield, passed away on Monday, January 5, 2026, under the care of Quad Counties Hospice.

He was born in St. Clair, MO, on December 8, 1944, the son of Theodore R. and Yolda D. (Rulo) Lawson. Roy married Dorothy M. Longwell in Carlinville. She survives.

Roy is a United States Army Sergeant Veteran, serving from 1964 to 1967. For 15 years, he worked on Norfolk Southern Raidroad in maintenance. Later working for Dana Incorporated as an inspector on car parts. He is of the Baptist faith. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Most importantly he loved spending time with his friends and family.

In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by his children, Brad (Jenn Reummler) Lawson, David (Brandi) Lawson, Tammy (Chris) Smith, Randy (Teresa) Boerckel, and Sandy Boerckel; siblings, Ted (Judy) Lawson, Richard (Inez) Lawson, and Johnny (Sue) Lawson; 13 grandchildren, Nancy (Chris) Dearinger, Pam (Jeff Heyen) Boerckel, Amanda (Andrew) Green, Brandy (Mike) Shaw, Randy (Tiffany) Boerckel, Ian Lawson, James Rogers, Rebecca Lawson, Andrea Lawson, Tim Lawson, Hunter Lawson, Ashley Register, and Rick Boerckel; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents, his was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Junior and Sue Lawson.

The family will host a celebration of life at a later date.

Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is assisting the family with their final wishes.
