Rosemary June Simpson, 85, died at 2:31 a.m. Sunday, August 14, 2016 at her home in Godfrey. Born June 25, 1931 in Alton, she was the daughter of Benjamin H. and Honour (Hartsock) Frye. Mrs. Simpson graduated from Alton High School Class of 1951 and retired in 1996 as a librarian for Lewis & Clark Community College after 14 years of service. She loved to watch the St. Louis Cardinals and her favorite player was Yadi. She loved watching Wheel of Fortune, ice skating and loved her kids. On July 19, 1952 she married Loyd “Wayne” Simpson in Millbourne, PA. He survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Karen Wedding (Ted) of Alton, Layne A. Simpson of Alton, and Vicki Peters (Paul) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, five grandchildren, Michael Peters, Mary Elizabeth Peters, Ashlyn Brown (Jeff), Alyssa Wedding, and Adam Wedding, and one great grandchild, Rosalyn Brown. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Theresa Peters, two brothers, Victor and Curtis Frye as well as a brother in infancy, and a sister, Laura Patricia Templin. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Jon Simpson, nephew of Rosemary, will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The family would like to thank Dr. John Hoelscher and Dr. Felicia Bentley for their compassionate care for our mother over the years.
