GRAFTON – Rosemarie Roberts, 72, died at 2:25 p.m., Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at her home in Grafton, with her family by her side, under the care of Blessing Hospice.
She was born in Alton on October 6, 1942, one of four children born to the late Harry and Marie (Roth) Lorsbach.
Rosemarie grew up on the family farm in Grafton, where she remained a lifelong resident.
She married Gary L. Roberts on November 10, 1963 and together they were blessed with 48 years of marriage and the joys that came with raising their four children before his death on December 15, 2011.
Rosemarie graduated with a Diploma of Nursing from St. Joseph’s College of Nursing in Alton and worked as an RN at St. Joseph’s Hospital from 1963 until 1974, when she began working alongside her father and her brothers on the family farm where she remained an integral part of its operations for many many years, all while maintaining every aspect of her own household.
She was an avid animal lover, and had a particular soft spot for dogs. She enjoyed gardening and will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her husband, children and grandchildren.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Gary J. & Carolyn Roberts of Jerseyville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Paula & Tom Elliott of Elsah; twin daughters, Diane & Kenny Dienberg of Grafton and Joann & Tom Jennings of Jerseyville; ten grandchildren, Jessica, Brian, Katie, Kelli, Holli, Stephen, Emily, Daniel, Joshua and Caleb; four great-grandchildren, Waylen, Dakota, Logan and Ameila; her twin brothers and a sister-in-law, Harry Lorsbach of Union City, CA and Larry & Mary Beth Lorsbach of Collinsville; several nieces and nephews; along with her best friends and K-9 companions, Lady & Harley.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Joann Ellen Lorsbach.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 25, 2015 at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville where a prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, with Father Patrick Gibbons officiating.
She will be laid to rest alongside her husband at the St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Guiding Eyes for the Blind, an organization dedicated to providing guide dogs to those with vision loss as well as service dogs for children with autism, in care of Crawford Funeral Home.
