Rose Kathryn Partney, 81 of Edwardsville, Illinois passed away at de Greeff Hospice on July 31st at 4:46pm. She was born on March 29, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, a daughter of the late Benjamin M. and Apollonia “Polly” (Duenne) Strack. She married Donald W. Partney, Jr. on November 29th, 1986, and he passed away on July 6, 2021. Rose was with the Fabulous Fox Theatre for 23 years, ending her career as a House Manager. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Edwardsville and was a longtime member at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City. She was very active with St. Elizabeth Parish throughout her children’s school years. She had served 15 years on the Board of Directors at the Paddlers Swim Club in Granite City, served on the St. Elizabeth Academy Board, and assisted as an instructor with the Red Cross Handicap Swim Program for many years. Rose loved her family and cherished the special times shared with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She loved her days of sailing, riding her scooter and Vespa, and was always looking for her next adventure. She enjoyed vacationing with family and friends and always loved taking in the sun and beach. She is survived by five children and their spouses, Robert and Susan Hilker, Jr., Rhonda Armstrong, Robin and Christopher Hinterser, Rebecca and James Jackson, and Roberta and Bryon Goeckner; fifteen grandchildren, Benjamin, Alisabeth, Annalise, and John Hilker; Ryan and Alexander Armstrong; Cori, Tyler, and Connor Hinterser; Emily, Mary, and Amanda Jackson; Apollonia (Mathew) Riberdy, Abigail, and Luke Goeckner; two step children and their spouses, Dennis and Linda Partney, and Dorothy and Jim Curtis; six step grandchildren, Jessica Partney, Norman Russell, Brent Curtis, Destiny Partney, Grant Curtis and Denton Partney; four step great-grandchildren, Laney Brand, Griffin Brand, Xavier Jacowski, and Chance Lee-Reno; three siblings and their spouses, Jim and Mickey Strack, Jane and Dean Talley, and Bob and Kathy Strack; many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Louis Reznack and a stepson, Darin Partney. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Evelyn’s House and especially de Greeff Hospice House for their outstanding care and incredible compassion for our mother during the last several weeks of her life.

In celebration of her life and in accordance with her wishes, a memorial visitation will be at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 110 N. Buchanan Street in Edwardsville, IL on Saturday, August 24th from 8:00 a.m. until a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. with Father Robert Jallas as celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorials may be made to Evelyn’s House, de Greeff Hospice House or a charity of your choice.
