Ronald F. Vivod, age 84 of Collinsville, IL, born April 14, 1940 in Granite City, IL, peacefully passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025 at his residence with his family by his side.
Ron was a 1958 Collinsville High School graduate. He attained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and had worked as a graphic artist. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965.
Ron had a deep appreciation for nature and was an accomplished artist, winning many awards throughout the region. His lifelong relationship with countless faithful dogs brought him much joy, and also featured frequently within his art. Within the St. Louis area, Ron was a much loved and respected member of several artist guilds.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank R. Vivod Jr. and Agnes V. (nee Thebeau) Vivod; a sister, Sharon Vogt, and countless canine companions, most recently his faithful friend, Buddy.
Surviving is his loving wife, Stella (nee Kirchner) Vivod, whom he married September 23, 1961 at St. Phillip Catholic Church in East St. Louis, IL; beloved daughter, Erica (Jay) Hunt; a brother, David (Patricia) Vivod; a sister, Cathy Vivod; and his grand-dog, Roscoe.
Family has been comforted by special lifelong friends, Crawford Wendler, Don (deceased) and Patty Wrigley, Pat and Gee Gee Sullivan, Tia Roney, and Jeremy and Nicole Wrigley. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Bob Ahrens and their Visiting Angels.
At Ron’s request, his body was donated to Washington University School of Medicine for the advancement of science. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
