Ronald Liston Kirby, 68, of Litchfield, IL, died at Decatur Memorial Hospital, on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 8:31 pm.
He was born September 30, 1957, in Litchfield, IL to James Kirby & Margaret Wikoff Birkenkamp. He married Brenda (Westwood) Kirby.
He was a diesel mechanic for Prairie International in Springfield, IL for 20 years. He was a devoted husband, loving father, wonderful grandfather, caring brother and a friend to many. He enjoyed spending time with his family, working outside in his garden, mowing his grass, watching westerns on TV, hanging out in his garage with his friends and listening to WSMI. Anyone he was friends with was thought of as family. He will be missed by many, but never forgotten.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Brenda of Litchfield, IL, son Frank (Naomi) of Gillespie, grandchildren, Makayla (Donaven), Henry, Chance, sisters, Debbie (Russ) Vaught of Dorchester, Patricia (Mark) Rands of Dorchester, brother, Fred Birkenkamp of Benld and many nieces and nephews.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Peggy Birkenkamp, James Kirby, brothers, Michael Kirby, Mark Birkenkamp, Gary Birkenkamp.
Friends may call on Friday, February 27, 2026 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm.
