Ronald Harshbarger

Ronald "Ron" E. Harshbarger, 73, of Godfrey, passed away at 8:15 pm on Friday, November 7, 2025, at his residence with his family by his side, under the care of BJC Hospice.

He was born in Alton, on December 30, 1951, the son of Fred F. and Rosemary A. (Stoltz) Harshbarger. Ron married Renee (Warren) on May 21, 1971, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, celebrating 54 years of marriage.

Ron worked at AT&T as a field tech, retiring in 2018.  He was a member at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto. Some of his hobbies were riding his motorcycle, wood working, carpentry work, boating, and he loved to ski. Most of all, he cherished his time spent with friends and family.

Along with his wife, Renee, he is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Lindy (Mike) Dixon of Bethalto, and Veronica Burke of AL; two grandchildren, McKenzie Dixon, and Michael Dixon; brother and sister-in-law, Andy (Mary) Harshbarger of Godfrey; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Debbie Violette, Marie McNamee, Patricia Maher, H. John Harshbarger, and Fred Harshbarger.

Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, IL.  Funeral mass will be on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 11:00 am, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto with Father Tom Liebler officiating.

Private graveside services will be held for the family at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alton at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and/or BJC Hospice.
