Ronald Harrop

Ronald Eugene Harrop, 94, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023 at Alton Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Born October 27, 1929 in Braidwood, IL, he was the son of James and Hazel (Hinthorne) Harrop.

A U.S. Army veteran, he had worked as a mold maker for Owens-IL Glass before owning and operating Harrop Auto Body for 24 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 794 in East Alton.

On October 28, 1950 in East Alton, he married Henrietta DaVault. She survives.

Surviving also are a son, Ricky (Denise) Harrop of East Alton; two daughters, Renee (Steven) Yost of Raymond, Robin Harrop (Mark) of Arkansas City, KS; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; brother, John Harrop of Meadowbrook; and two sisters, Linda James of Marble hill, MO and Doris Radliff of Godfrey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Rhonda Biay; two brothers; and five sisters.

Visitation will be from 3-6 pm, Wednesday, December 27, at Marks Mortuary in Wood River where funeral services will be conducted at 12:30 pm, Thursday.  Chaplain Phillip Bender will officiate.

Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Disease Foundation.
